about
"Noise & Light could just as easily be called Weather & Elements. I am sitting on the sand, next to the Pedernales River, listening to a recording of their performance at last year's PRFBBQ. The river meanders, braids, riffles, widens, and cuts through limestone, revealing a stratum of the ages. Above, a searing sun, and upriver, the columnar mounting of a storm cloud, a gorgeous and uncertain threat. A cumulus obscures the sunlight and the wind picks up as I listen to "Caravan". The Bluestem bends, the Live Oaks sway. A fitting soundtrack, indeed." - Dave Norwood, The Gary
"I wasn't sure what to expect, but noise&light turned out to be the highlight of the 2012 PRFBBQ for me. When I think about them, the first thought I always have is Liz's smile. Every time. She is a dear friend to me, and she has the most thoughtful and caring way about her. It's like there's no room for cheap cynicism with her, and that's very powerful to me. And that's what comes through the most to me in noise&light's music. This real joy. Music being made by good friends, very talented friends. I won't do the music the disservice of trying to describe it, because it's quite beautiful and worthy of you checking it out with no preconceived notions. Melodic and moving and understated. Never seeming hurried or overly busy. Vanessa and Matt and Faiz fit into the band just perfectly, but Liz's voice is the anchor for me, and when I hear it, I again think of her smile, and it makes me smile. Watch the videos of their set from last year's BBQ and tell me I'm wrong. You can't do it." - Trey Pool, The Gary
